Telepathic communication and other "exceptional" human experiences (EHEs) may not be as out there as you think. An overwhelming majority of people self-report having had EHEs at least once in their lives.

For those who develop their awareness over time and operate more deeply in these subtle mental realms, the zenith of possibilities may just prove itself to be boundless. And through that journey, as humans we may tangibly discover today that we are part of an infinitely vast, intelligent, singular living cosmos.

Last Winter, upon leaving the northern Himalaya, I extended the ice season by following Winter to humanity's southern edge of the planet, Patagonia. During this time, I drafted a number of papers serving as theoretical primers and vision documents informing my doctoral scientific investigation, private enterprise, and beyond. Building upon what we already know in the emerging science of consciousness, I began a journey to simultaneously disprove presently held assumptions about our innate human psychophysiological capacities, and expand our unfolding human potential writ large. This is one of those theoretical papers.

In celebration of fifty years of rigorous scientific inquiry in the domain of consciousness, I sat down to share my reflections, experiences, and sense impressions upon the impact and future of our emerging sciences and awareness as a people. There is every indication that the next fifty years of deepening scientific truths and human awareness experienced in our own lifetime will catalyze profound transformations in the ways we feel, think, and act as a species on Earth and beyond.

In this personal thesis, I offer my sense impressions, observations, and directional agency as we together co-create and co-evolve our future together on Earth and beyond.

Meditating upon the ocean, we merge with her. Through our great union with the sea, we begin to remember. The sea floods into us our oceanic memory of our planet. When we come into union with our oceans in a moment, we become witness to the consciousness of our planet. All memory, all experience collapses into us. Our awareness perceives our hologram of her totality, as she whispers the secrets of our galaxy, and on. The crashing of waves becomes our doorway into cosmic awareness. In this moment, knowledge becomes known like a sculptor releasing form from Earth’s timeless elements.

What is it to live passionately? Is it being present, mindful, aware, the practice of seeing deeply and anew? This is part of it. Perhaps it would be better to begin with what it is not: it is not qualified in vacations (quite the opposite), it is not planned in full, nor can it be bought.

Over the years I have spent shoulder seasons in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of North America looking up. Then, it finally happened. I spent the Summer-into-Fall months of 2019 in the Canadian Rockies. I received an NOAA alert of high geomagnetic activity coming toward Earth. This coincided with a huge storm covering hundreds of miles and blanketing the entire mountain region from Prince George to Whitefish…

Each of us has our mentors, influences, people whose work strikes a primordial chord in our psyches that in some ways fundamentally guides our life, opens our mind to greater horizons, and fuels our inner fires. For me, I cannot think of any artist who has more greatly touched me than Barry Lopez.
